Terms of use

Plain-English terms for using the calculators on this site.

The short version

  • The calculators are estimates, not measurements.
  • Nothing here is medical, legal, or safety advice.
  • The blood alcohol estimator is never a way to decide whether it's safe to drive. If you've had any alcohol, don't drive.
  • The site is provided as-is, with no warranty of any kind.

What this site is

sobriety-calculator.com is a free collection of utility calculators related to alcohol use and time alcohol-free. The math runs in your browser. We don't store your inputs. See the privacy page for details.

Estimates only

Every number on this site is an estimate. The inputs are self-reported, the formulas are generalizations, and individual biology, behavior, and circumstances vary. Use the results to think, not to make safety-critical or legal decisions.

For full formulas and assumptions, see the methodology page.

Not medical advice

Nothing on this site is a substitute for advice from a doctor, therapist, or qualified support service. If you're worried about your drinking, or someone else's, talking to a professional is the right next step. If you're in crisis or in danger, contact your local emergency services.

Not legal advice on impaired driving

The blood alcohol (BAC) estimator on this site does not tell you whether you're legally permitted to drive in any jurisdiction. Legal thresholds vary by country, state, and circumstance, and an estimator can never account for your individual physiology, what you've eaten, your medications, or measurement error. The honest answer is the same one we put on that page: if you've had any alcohol, don't drive.

No warranty

This site is provided "as is" and "as available," without any warranty of any kind, express or implied, including, without limitation, warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of the site, the calculators, or the information shown.

Acceptable use

Use this site for personal informational purposes. Don't scrape it in ways that disrupt service, attempt to interfere with how it runs, or use it to harass others. We may rate-limit or block requests that look like abuse.

Links to other sites

We link to sober-tracker.app (the embr iOS app site) and occasionally to public sources like NIAAA or the CDC when we cite a definition. We're not responsible for the content of any third-party site.
